昨年末、イラクのフセイン元大統領が絞首刑になってから、彼の近親者2名も続いて処刑された。この一連の死刑によって、イラクがますます混迷することはまず間違いなさそう。ワタスは、これは口封じのためだったと思ってる。

Hours after the deaths of Barzan Ibrahim and al-Bandar, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Italian Premier Romano Prodi condemned the hangings in a joint news conference in Rome.

"Our position, born out of principle, is against the death penalty," Barroso said. "It's an issue of values. We consider that no man has the right to take the life of another man. It's a fundamental issue, I believe, among our European values."

ところで、やっぱ死刑制度を存続してる限り、日本も非難される恐れってあるんじゃないかと。もしももしも、中国が日本より先に死刑を廃止や凍結しちゃったら、かなーりまずい立場になるかもね。
