この３月におきたタハリール広場での反政府デモのときに、デモに参加した女性たちに「処女検査」をしていたと、軍幹部が認めたそうだ。

But now a senior general who asked not to be identified said the virginity tests were conducted and defended the practice.

"The girls who were detained were not like your daughter or mine," the general said. "These were girls who had camped out in tents with male protesters in Tahrir Square, and we found in the tents Molotov cocktails and (drugs)."
The general said the virginity checks were done so that the women wouldn't later claim they had been raped by Egyptian authorities.

"We didn't want them to say we had sexually assaulted or raped them, so we wanted to prove that they weren't virgins in the first place," the general said. "None of them were (virgins)."

匿名で取材に応じた軍の将軍が、処女検査が行われたことを認め、これを擁護した。「拘束された娘たちはうちの子やお宅の子らとは違う。この娘たちはタハリール広場で男たちとテントを張ってキャンプをし、テントの中にはモロトフカクテルや薬物があった。」将軍は、女性たちが後になってエジプト政府関係者にレイプされたと訴えないために処女検査を実施したという。「我々が性的暴行を加えたと言われないように、彼女たちが処女でないと証明したかった。誰も処女ではなかった」

この軍人さんが言いたいのは、「レイプが問題になるのは女性が処女の場合だけ、処女じゃなければレイプじゃないから、OK」ってこと？男にまじって広場でテント張ってデモ活動するようなふしだらな娘たちていう、おっさん目線が時代遅れ過ぎて、萎える。
ムバラク氏が権力を手放してから、軍が憲法改正と総選挙まで暫定的に政権を掌握してるんだそうな。早く真に民主的な政権ができて、アレな人権感覚の人たちはさっさと退場するのがいいと思う。
